Introducing the Honor X8, a new midrange phone from Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor, an online subsidiary of Huawei. Honor’s first smartphone powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor has been unveiled. Yet, a new generation of processors is not the only thing that makes this device so special. In addition to a 6.5-inch notch-based screen, the phone also features dual rear cameras equipped with artificial intelligence technology for automatic scene recognition and GPU Turbo technology for smooth gaming.
Positioning of Honor 8x
The presentation of honor x8 phone took place in March 2022. At the event, they talked about the X line and its positioning. So, the X series is considered advanced, that is, it has some of the flagship features, technologies or design ideas. For example, the X5 was the first smartphone in a certain price segment of the Honor brand to feature a metal body. Then the X6 came out with two main cameras, and the X7 received an elongated Full View screen. And what do the Honor developers highlight in the X8 model?
First of all, the useful display area, which is 91%. Interestingly, with this result, the brand entered the top five companies producing devices with a similar ratio of body area to screen. In order to achieve this figure, engineers have redesigned the antennas for the X8 phone, and also installed the micro USB connector under the glass (COF technology), and not under the panel (COG technology), as in most smartphones.
Secondly, the design of the device. Here we used 15 layers of glass with different levels of reflection.
In the third – dual cameras with Ai-functions for recognizing various scenes. We also implemented the “Night” mode and shooting video at a frequency of 480 frames per second.
Other important aspects: a capacious 3700 mAh battery, an NFC chip, a triple slot for two SIM cards and a memory card, a lot of memory – 4/64 GB or 4/128 GB.
Appearance of Honor X8
Huawei has found its own special style of smartphone design, and now almost every new device looks the same as the previous one. For Honor X8, we decided to slightly diversify the appearance by equipping the back panel with two types of glass: reflective and almost non-reflective. The first occupies about 70% of the surface of the case on the reverse side. In my opinion, this design option looks pretty, at least the 8X can definitely be distinguished from any other phone from the company.
The phone is sold in two bright colors – red and blue, as well as strict, but no less elegant black. I got red on my review. The color is really bright and attracts attention: the back side is mirrored, a thin plastic insert for shock absorption of glass and a matte metal edging. The front panel is black. In general, Honor played in contrast.
Honor x8 fingerprints on glass?
Yes, they abundantly cover the entire back panel, but they are erased relatively easily. Have you forgotten about the oleo phobic coating? This is present. The quality is excellent.
Considering the large diagonal of the screen, the dimensions of the case are rather big – 160 × 76 × 7.8 mm, and the phone weighs just over 170 grams. It has become more and more difficult to describe the sensations in the hand: either goners with 5-inch screens, or 6.5-inch overgrowths “come” to the test. Now I use Mate 20, so Honor x8 is perceived as a “healthy person” phone. At the top of the device, they installed light and proximity sensors, a front camera (above it there is a small indicator of missed events) and a speech speaker.
